mind dumping again.....

Ok, you know how this works....my mind gets full of rubbish and it needs to dump it so here goes!

It is Tuesday December 27th 2011 and Christmas is over.....boooo... But New Year is just around the corner...yay!!!

I had a great Christmas! Being the baby of five kids and the aunt or great aunt to 13 has its benefits come present day!!

The one present the reminded me most that I was a baby sister was this from my biggest brother and his wife.....Talk about picking on your little sister!!

Stop laughing! He is mean!! I told my mum and she said "Cherie you are 33...man up!" it's so not fair!!!!

Ok that's enough of me reverting to a child! Seriously the family do it to me every time!!

I have been in tinsel hibernation for the last few weeks, nose deep in Christmas celebrations and preparations so I have done NONE WRITING! But I am getting back into it, I will conquer A to Zane if it kills me and at this stage it just might!

This coming year will see at least, yeah I said it AT LEAST, two of my books being published! Yay!

Several of my writing mates have their first, second, fourth or more release out in the first 6 months of this year too! In the last 12 months we have all gone from dreamers to proper grown up, boot wearing, gun totting authors. Got to say I have had worse years...2008 to be exact but we won't go into that.

So we can only guess at what 2012 will bring!!

For those of you who don't know I live in London, England so next year we will have the Olympics on our doorstep, the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations...no doubt more free holiday days for us like we had when Prince William and Kathrine got married and the Para-Olympics.....so for those of us UK based it will be party time!

All in all I think it will be a great year.....I don't make new years resolutions so none of that "I am going to lose weight" or "stop doing this thing or that" but if I did it would probably be "I am going to be a more productive writer" like Doris and Raven........they seriously know how to write a book man!

OK don't forget to enter the Nuthouse Scribblers giveaway....check the red advert on the right...you still have time to get one of 6 free ebooks from the inmates there!

Until next time.....remember (I was inspired by my editor on this one) replacing your Dom/me's flogger with wet noodles....just isn't big or funny......don't say you ain't been warned!

Turkey Time!!!

OK first off Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

It's that time of year where I get far too excited about the presents under the tree. I like to have a nose to see if I can guess what could be in there....you would think at my age that I would be over that but nahhhhh it's all part of Christmas.

Some people get melancholy about the past year and what has happened and I have to say that this has been one of the better years I have had in a while. Publishing contracts, no recurrence of the cancer for my mum and my family as a whole seem to all be healthy for a change. We lost my mum's best friend in April and I know my mum misses her a lot but I know she is happy now, back with her husband and her parents. It is thoughts like that that make me smile.

Now can I just share a little bit of a Christmas laugh for you....recently in my day job we had our staff party....I was asked to be "Secret Santa" I agreed I just hadn't expected there to be a costume...

As you can, as one of my best friends said, I look more like a slutty super hero then a Santa but hay it's all in the spirit of fun! *hangs head in shame*

I have done little to no writing over the last few weeks, my current wip needs loads of reworking and with all the craziness with Christmas and I have had that nasty tummy bug going around *shudders*

This is just a quick note to say:

Don't forget that you still have time to enter the Christmas give away over at the Nuthouse! The link is on the right!!

Merry Christmas and I wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year!!

Here's to a great holiday season!

A little Squee of excitment

So remember I have told you about the random idea I had a while ago to help myself and my crit group through a "quiet" period. For those late to the show: Basically the idea was for us all to take character sitting around the table and write their story. It was for fun really, just something to while away the hours and days whilst we waited to hear from different publishers or editors or were simply dealing with writers block.

Then Breathless Press got wind of what we were doing and asked to have a look at the first four stories. We laughed and said "sure but we won't be holding our breaths." We hadn't really put any thought into it, like I said it was just for fun.

We did some work, did a little editing and sent them off to the publisher. And promptly forgot all about it.....well mostly a writer never really forgets when they send a book to a publisher.

A few weeks passed and we had an email that basically said..."eeerrrrr we love it!!"  Now I am paraphrasing I know, artistic license and all that.

Now a little while later still we got another email.....DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!

TA DA!!!

This is the cover of the first book in The Blood Bar Chronicles - The Alphas.!! To be released on March 16th 2012!

We currently have 3 books planned in the series. This book was written by Jorja, Me, Doris and Arya.

The second book will be written by JP Stevens, Xandra James, Raven McAllan and Chellie Edwards.

The third book will be written by Kiru Taye, Caledonia St James, Yazmin Subha and Alyssa Fox.

The second book is currently with Breathless Press and we are cautiously optimistic!  We should hear any day now.

Remember from a tiny acorn grows a mightly oak and from a random idea a publishing career can grow.

Dreams are not meant to be hidden in the dark but brought out into the light where you can live them.........

Now before I go, just to put a small smile on my mate Xandra's face.....

It is never a wise idea to tut, roll your eyes and tell your dom/me "pfft call that a spanking? A wet noddle could hit harder"....don't way you weren't warned!

How the book makes you feel

At the moment I am in the middle of writing Shifters of Hillside 2. I love my hero, Zane, and heroine, Abby, but for the love of all that is holy and true their story is killing me. It is like walking through melted toffee!! The story is there it is just hidden, deep, deep, deep with all the rubbish I have already written.

I sent the first few painful chapters to a couple of my crit partners, for which I am still apologising for, and I got some feed back from them.

I have to fix the descriptions, of which there are none! The dialogue is funny when it needs to be and the sex is hot but there isn't enough of it! Seriously they both said that! But the best feed back I got was about the villain of the piece, a woman called Sally, well let me show you.

Crit one gave me: Grrr I wanna rip her apart myself!
Crit two gave me: but I just wanna slap that bitch's face

Now, there were other much more in depth and useful pointers that they gave me but these two gave me the biggest smile because it meant I was doing my job right. I wanted Sally to come across like a "Mean Girl" and it worked because both of my mates were ready to hang, draw and quarter her!  Yep, might not have a great story by I can write a villain baby yeah!
I am reading a book at the minute and the heroine escaped a jail and left another woman there, that had clearly been abused for a while by those who ran the jail, because it wasn't "part of her orders". The heroine still had nightmares of that events and the woman's screams to save her and you know what I did, stopped reading. That one small event in the whole book made me decided I no longer cared if the heroine lived, died or spent eternity in hell.

I think the event was there to show that she was different now and she had regrets. I think it was meant to be a small scene but to me it dragged me out of the book and made me stop caring. I have to be able to care about the heroine otherwise why would I carry on reading until she got her "happy ever after"?

Right now it is 11pm on a Thursday night and I should be heading to bed because I have to deal with my EDJ tomorrow, but, even though I read that bit of the story this morning on the journey to work, I just can't let it go.

Books, stories, characters all make you feel and I don't think an author is doing their job unless they make you feel something. Whether is it anger, or love, or lust. If the story doesn't make you want to be the woman who is ravished by the handsome hero, or headbutt the baddie or cry when someones heart is breaking then really what's the point of reading?

This is clearly the ramblings of an author who is trying everything and anything so she doesn't have to go back to her WIP......but I wanted to share my thoughts with you.

Wanna know something else about my current wip? I made me teary, yep that's right I teared up. Sometimes the characters take over and the things that appear on the page aren't from me but directly from them.

Before you all call the men in white coats I don't mean that I become possessed. I mean that the characters have their own plan and they tell you exactly what is going to happen and when no matter what you had originally planned. Sometime you are writing and suddenly you realised you are in the middle of a scene that leaves you teary eyed and heart broken and it came out of nowhere.

But again it makes you feel.

At the end of the day if the story doesn't make the writer feel something how can we expect the readers to be emotionally invested in the story?

So although I now dislike the heroine of the story I was reading I can confirm the author made me feel, and I am still feeling hours after reading that scene. Granted I feel anger towards the heroine but still it is a feeling.
I will fixed Shifters of Hillside 2 if it kills me. I am determined to have this ready but the time Leashed By a Wolf, Shifters of Hillside 1 comes out, tentatively in February 2012.

Oh before I head off let me just mentioned that on the right hand side you can see an advert for the Nuthouse Scribblers! We are having a HUGE giveaway the is running all through December. Just click on the link, comment on the post, like the facebook page or follow the Nuthouse on twitter with the chance to win 1 of 7 ebooks!

With that I shall leave you with this one thought.......not matter how much he/she annoys you sticking your Dom/mes paddles on the table with super glue is never going to help!

Don't say you ain't been warned!!

Interviewing an Alpha Wolf......

Today I am changing it up a little. I am not interviewing the author I am interviewing her male lead! That being said today I have with me Ion, you may know him from Doris O’Connor’s recent release Lure of the blood (available here)

Me: Hi Ion, thank you for stopping by. oh great he does not look happy and is grumbling at me

Ion: Hey there!

Me: First thing first How is Marnie? Phew def the best way, Ion just grinned at me....seriously nice teeth FYI

Ion: She’s sleep deprived but very happy. The young ones are keeping her busy, and I believe she’s matchmaking—again!
At this rate I won’t have any unmated wolves left. Still…

He stares off into the distance with a small smile, def a contented wolf this man
She’s great, she really is.

Errr I am not going to complain that he has just put his large feet on my desk, nope no way

Me: Have you see Lucas lately? I hear Doris is in the middle of telling his story, do you know anything about that?
He laughs and I feel like I can start to relax a little bit

Ion: Yeah I heard that. Would certainly explain the besotted look he’s got about him at the minute. Not that that stubborn vamp would ever admit he’s fallen head over heels with a human. He’s got quite a journey ahead of him, judging by what I’ve seen so far. Marnie is over the moon he’s found someone, of course.

Me: What was it like having your story told for so many people to read? Note to self, never sit in a chair that puts a wolf between you and the only escape route. He is glaring at me now......

Ion: Disconcerting, I don’t care much for having my business exposed for everyone to see. However, it’s been good for the pack, because it brought us Marnie.
He smiles

Me:After you experience having your story told would you recommend it to anyone else?

Ion: Well… he laughs  I didn’t really get a choice in the matter. When I heard that Marnie was all set to get together with Lucas, I couldn’t have that. She was mine!
So, my advice—if you’re having your story told, make sure you take charge. I made it perfectly clear to Doris that Lucas and Marnie… never going to happen.Lucas is learning that right now.  he grins at me

Me: Without giving to much away for those who have yet to read the book, can you tell me are you now a believer in fortunes and pre-ordained fates?
He grows pensive and I really wish Marnie was here

Ion: I’m a living example that it happens, so yes I’d have to admit to that. Though if you tell anyone… He shows me his claws and grins and my heart actually tries to beat its way out of my chest And I’m not going to say any more on that.

Me: Is there one thing you regret in your life that you would change? If so what is it?
he growls and starts pacing and I am starting to freak just a little

Ion: I have made many mistakes and I have no wish to rehash them. It would serve no purpose. I’m just very grateful that Marnie has brought me peace.
thankfully he stops pacing and calms down

Me: Is there one thing in your life you have yet to achieve? If so what is it?
Ion: I just want peace. It seems impossible at times. In an ideal world I could just concentrate on Marnie, and the pack. In reality, there is always danger round the corner.

Me: Thank you for stopping by Ion, I know you have a family to get back to!  Give Marnie my regards!
He smiles at me and I can see what drew Marnie to him

Ion: She’ll be waiting for me.
With that he winks and shifts into his wolf  I open the door and he sprints away

This has just been a short interview with Ion from Lure of the Blood by Doris O'Connor. To wet your appetite a little more here is an excerpt....

Marnie’s eyes fluttered open in panic at the animalistic growl coming from the driver’s side. What the hell? And why did they stop now?
She could sense the anger coming off Ion in waves, his gaze on her so intense she didn’t breathe until his eyes shifted to a spot over her shoulder and she managed to gasp some much-needed air into her tight lungs.
“Does your place have a bath?”
“It’s a simple enough question!” Ion’s hand went in his hair, his eyes briefly connecting with hers, before he swore under his breath, shaking his head. “I’m assuming it hasn’t. Those flats aren’t fit for mice to live in, let alone a woman on her own. You need to soak those injuries if you want any chance of being able to walk tomorrow. I am betting it’s only adrenaline keeping you upright as it is.”
“I…I’ll be fine. This isn’t your concern. Just take me home, please.”
Unease trickled down her spine at the renewed growl rumbling from Ion’s broad chest. He looked as tense as a bow string, his grey eyes pure steel, holding her captive, one large hand curling round the base of her neck, forcing her to look at him.
“This is very much my concern. You’re coming home with me and I’m not taking no for an answer. Someone needs to look after you.”
“I’m perfectly capable of looking after myself. I don’t need a man for that.”
The calloused fingers on her neck tightened painfully and she couldn’t help the wince escaping, even as her body reacted to the raw, barely-controlled masculine power radiating off him with embarrassing predictability. Heat rose in her cheeks at his knowing smile. She watched in helpless fascination as his nostrils flared and his eyes narrowed, before he came so close the heat of his skin seemed to melt into her bones. His breath fanned across the sensitive skin of her neck, before he seemed to sniff her and his growled words in her ear sent her heart beating into overdrive.
“Just as well I’m not just a man then, little one.”
And with those ominous words, he pulled away from her, shifted the truck into gear and drove off again.
Marnie thought it wise to keep her mouth shut, even as they headed further and further out of town and away from her block of flats. Every time she did try and say something, another one of those low growls stopped her until she couldn’t stand it anymore.
“There are laws against kidnapping, you know. You can’t just do this. And what the hell did you mean by that comment?”
The look he sent her was that of a pure predator, and Marnie swallowed nervously. What had she gotten herself into now? And why was her body not getting the message? His little Tarzan act should have her appalled, not secretly excited.
His growled response did little to reassure her.
“It’s only kidnapping if one party doesn’t agree, my sweet.”
Oh, the nerve of the man!
“Did you not get the memo? I asked you to take me home!”
His low chuckle washed over her and she had to sit on her hands to stop herself from slapping that arrogant smirk off his face.
“You can protest all you want, but your scent says otherwise.”
Oh My God!
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
The deep growl made Marnie jump as one large hand rested on her thigh briefly, branding her in a painful squeeze. Her heart once again went into overdrive at the expression on his face. He looked about ready to eat her. Now where had the thought come from?
“Keep asking and you’ll find out. Now relax, we’re almost there. I have a bath with your name on it.”
“And if I don’t want a bath?” Marnie didn’t seem able to stop goading him. Something about the way he was breathing, spurred her on at an instinctive level. She had never seen him quite so tense, so on the verge of … of something dark and dangerous and exciting. Oh God, clearly there was something fundamentally wrong with her––there had to be. The air seemed to have been sucked out of the interior of the truck as she waited for his response, too aware of the leashed power emanating off him right now.
When he finally turned to her, his eyes were not human. “Don’t push me, little one; you won’t like what you find.”

THANK YOU DORIS!!!! oh and Ion clearly!!! I do loves wolves but that man made me nervous I tell ya! wipes brow

Arya Grey an up and coming writers stop by for a chat....

I have with me today Arya Grey, an up and coming writer who will be published early in 2012.
Hi Arya, take a seat, make yourseld at home and tell everyone a little about yourself.

My name is Arya Grey, I'm 26 years old and I live in bonnie Scotland. I have a wonderful/patient husband and three lovely cats. I met my husband in Arizona, where I lived for 10 years.

Can I just say 3 cats are enough!! *glares knowingly at Arya* So when did you get into writing?

I've been writing most of my life, but it really started in High School. I was lucky enough to attend a High School for the Arts and had a wonderful Creative Writing teacher. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be here now.

What inspires you to write?

Everything! From people watching, to vivid dreams I have. Those who know me best know that I am always creating in some form. Sometimes I get ahead of myself, but that's what notebooks are for, right? Gotta jot those ideas somewhere before they are lost! :)

If you couldn’t write what you do instead?

Hairdressing is my other passion, so I guess that's what I'd be doing.

I hear you like other crafts *cough still waiting for my crochet doll cough cough*

Ha! Don't worry, I am just waiting for some eyes to arrive in the mail (No, that is not the start to a horror story, promise) and you'll have your toy!
I do lots of other crafts! Art in every form runs in both sides of my family. I love to draw, paint (both on canvas and digitally) and recently crocheting. I found a website with lots of creepy/cute toys and I just couldn't resist!

How would you describe your style of writing?

I've been told that I'm sometimes scary. I've had a few readers tell me they have to read my stuff through their fingers! I like to think I mix horror-supernatural with the romance element equally. I try to paint a vivid picture, as I see it in my head and hope the reader can see it too.

You will be a published author in Feb next year. Tell me honestly was there screaming involved when you got the “call”

Unfortunately I was in Glasgow having dinner with my mother when I got the call. I screamed in my head and I actually jumped in my chair. Lets say I then ordered a bottle of wine to celebrate :)

Are you working on anything at the minute?

I'm always working on something! As a matter of fact, I am currently editing a Novella I wrote a few months back called 'Cirque Malefique', and have started an Erotic Fantasy called 'The Last Rider'.

In relation to your writing career, what would you really like to achieve?

We would all love to be living rich with our books, but I'll be happy if people read my stories and enjoy them for what they are. I'd like to think I've entertained them and maybe even opened their eyes to a darker side of Romance.

If there is one thing about yourself you would tell us what would it be?

Hmm, maybe that I'm feisty but that doesn't make me unapproachable. I love to chat and help others. I will tell you the truth without being hurtful.

Do you have any advice for authors out there who are still waiting for that “call”?

Never give up and try not to stalk your inbox too much! We're all guilty of it, and it doesn't do much for the little sanity we writers have left.
Tell me a little about your book.

'Perfect Timing' is the 4th story in the first Blood Bar Chronicles book entitled 'The Alphas'. It is the story of a fiery little Glaswegian writer, Josie, who meets a mysterious American during a mishap at the meet-up for her crit group. Soon she discovers that the world isn't quite what it seems and she must band together with David her friends to protect what their mutual pal and her daughter.

Guys and Gals.....here  is a little excerpt from Perfect Timing by Arya Grey....

Josie felt strange. A tingling sensation started inside her thighs and traveled up her spine. She gasped and held back the scream of ecstasy that threatened to erupt. She crossed her legs and peered over the back of the booth, just as Noelle and Ana were doing, and saw a tall man with long sandy blonde hair and sea green eyes. She wanted to ravish him and she had absolutely no idea why. Every woman in the joint had their eyes set on him, except for Arielle, who just looked confused.
A firm hand grasped her wrist and the only thing Josie saw, as the world came to a stop around her, were blue-green eyes. Then she was spun into a vortex of wind and colors so bright she had to close her eyes for fear of being blinded. She shrieked at first but calmed when warm hands spread across her waist and held her tight. She had to try with all of her strength not to throw up the glass of wine she'd drunk too eagerly.
After what felt like an eternity she finally felt ground beneath her feet. A cool, calm voice with a soft American accent spoke to her. “Are you okay, sugar? You look a little pale.”
Josie opened her eyes and they met with an almost bare chest. The skin was smooth and a splattering of blonde hair lay across it. She pushed back from him and looked up. He was smirking,
“What the hell?” She said and looked around. She was in an old house with antique furniture, yet it smelled like a new car. “Where am I?” She gasped as another wash of ecstasy rolled through her.
“I've brought you to my house, where you'll be safe.” He said, still smirking. His eyes almost sparkled in the bright lights of the dining room. “Would you like a drink?”
“I'd like you to tell me what's going on. What exactly am I safe from?” She demanded and crossed her legs.
“Well, Babydoll, I wish I knew. What I do know is that I couldn't leave you there, salivating.” He said.
“I... Feel...” She moaned. She sure as hell wasn't going to tell this fit-as-fuck stranger that she was close to having an orgasm, all because of some pretty boy. Now, the confident man in tailored clothes standing before her, he was her every fantasy. Hell, she was sure she'd written him into one of her books. She wondered what he looked like under his clothes but snapped out of it.
“You and every other gal in that joint.” He said, went to a small bar, poured whiskey into a glass and held it up to Josie. She shook her head in refusal, still trying to keep the wine down. “He must have some sort of call...” He sipped from the glass.
“How did we get here?” Josie asked and sat back against the long table. Every sense was on high alert.
Has someone slipped something in my wine?
“Now that would be telling, wouldn't it?” He said, his voice low like a purr that sent shivers down her arms. She had hoped she would meet someone at the end of the night, maybe even go back to their place, but things had changed.
“What about my friends? Are they alright?” Josie's voice shook as she said the words out loud but his soft laugh relaxed her.
“Your friends are fine. I assure you.” He pressed his lips to the glass once more and walked up to her. Josie held her breath, hoping that her amazing make-up was still intact and watched his every move. Despite his height he walked with a certain grace and his eyes told of the many things he'd seen in his life. “And you're okay, thanks to me...” He traced his fingers lightly down her shoulder. Goose flesh flushed her pale skin and she let out her breath.
“Who are you?” She asked, leaning into him.
“My name is David Malm.” He smiled. “And you are...?”
“Josie McNair.” She answered.
“Josie...” He growled and bit his lip. “Well, sugar, what ever shall I do with you?”
“Maybe you should take me home...” Josie said, growing nervous at the ever increasing rate of her sex drive.
What was she doing?
Jesus, Josie, get your head out your backside! This isn't one of your stories, this is your life!
“You're not going anywhere. I can see your hitched breath,” His fingers traced her lips, “The flushing of your cheeks,” he stroked the back of his hand across her cheek, “the crossing of your legs...” He spread her legs and she had to bend back to look up at him. “You want me just as much as I want you. Why fight it?” He traced his fingers along the hem of her dress and she felt them graze her pert nipple. She gasped and held his wrist still.

Thanks very much for stopping by Arya.....errr so I should expect that crochet doll soon yeah...just thought I would, you know, mention it again.....

If you want to keep up with all the news on Arya and her book released you can find her here...

Xandra James visits....No she was not kidnapped.....well not much

Today visiting I have Xandra James, author of the up coming release Reluctant Revenge and creator of  The Book Bordello........ Noone was kidnapping in the making of this blog.....not really...

Hi Xandra! Welcome to my blog, make yourself at home, put your feet up…oh and don’t worry about wolf in the corner, he is friendly honestly.

Hey Cherie – thanks for having me over. These fluffy handcuffs are very comfortable, by the way. Has wolfy eaten today? *keeps an eye on the dog*

They are for your own safety, errr, honestly. Now for those out there that may not be as well acquainted with you as I am, tell them a little about yourself.

The good parts AND the bad parts? I might put off a few of your readers…

I'm a 33 year old Brit who owns more boxes of books than I do underwear. I'm also the Queen of Procrastination. There's not an excuse in existence that I haven't used as to why I'm not writing or haven't finished a manuscript! When I'm done procrastinating for the day, I love reading and watching movies with my long suffering hubby, oh and conveniently forgetting to do the housework… My first e-book novella is out on December 1st and I'm equal parts elated and completely terrified at the prospect.

Can you tell us a little more about Reluctant Revenge?

I'd love to.

Here's the official blurb:

Nash was bound to her completely – by a blood connection and a deep desire. An Enforcer for the Supranormal community, he was obligated to protect the sexy assignment from those who coveted her future Angelic abilities, but can he forgive the woman whose family had devastated his world?

Sienna, upon the realisation she'd been betrayed by her family for keeping her birthright a secret, seeks solace in the arms of her surly and reluctant protector; a demon hybrid with a secret of his own. Can she come to terms with her destiny after discovering that she could be as dangerous as those Nash was protecting her from?

Oooh, that sounds right up my street!

What led you to write this story? Was there a spark of inspiration from something?

R/R originally started its life back as a first chapter in the New Voices 2010 contest (the one from Mills & Boon). There were lots (and lots) of much better chapters than mine and, suffice to say, I didn't place at all.  So, S/S went through a major re-write. The only thing that stayed the same was the heroine. I love Sienna; she's cute, sassy and can totally handle Nash.

When I had my story figured, I then went and found two pictures that inspired me. Just so happened they were of Hugh Jackman and Julianne Hough… Nash and Sienna were born!

hmmmmm Hugh Jackman.....*swoon*

When will Reluctant Revenge be out and where can we get it??

It's out on the 1st December from Pink Petal Books (www.pinkpetalbooks.com)  and will be available from Amazon and all good e-book stores a little before Christmas (a perfect gift, if I do say so myself ;) Lol).

That is ONE WEEK TODAY PEOPLE!!!....just thought I would mention that!!

If there was one piece of advice you could give aspiring authors out there what would it be?

There's plenty of good advice out there that you should completely listen to. But one of the things that helped me personally was learning the structure of a book. I thought, having read many books in my life-time, that I would know how to put together a book. I was wrong (I found this out when I wrote my first, lol). Have an open mind to everything as you never know when you'll learn something new that will help you immensely.

Can I leave you with an excerpt? Here's a little taster of Nash feeling a little conflicted at his current situation. I hope you enjoy it :D

I would be offended if you didn't!! So here you go guys and gals, a little excerpt from Releuctant Revenge by Xandra James

Nash hadn't meant to freak her out. Okay, maybe he had just a little. But he hadn't expected her to run off into the night with him stuck in demon-mode. He turned to see her pass the perimeter of the car park and turn to sprint down the road. She was fast, he'd give her that.

He had to wait those precious few seconds before getting out of the car as he couldn't exactly go running around the neighbourhood like he was. He'd scare the shit out of some unsuspecting motorist. Not only that, it was illegal for him as an Enforcer for the Supranormal community to switch in public unless under personal attack.

A slightly more primal reason was sitting right there in between his legs. His demon half was a horny beast and it took just a whiff of hot female and he was ready for action. And Sienna Clementi was definitely a hot female.

Nash cracked his neck and reined in the demon inside. His hard-on, however, barely moved. He sighed and got out of the car. Adjusting himself so that he could run comfortably, he looked towards the point where Sienna had disappeared and took off at speed.

Within seconds her smell assaulted his senses. She was alluring and sexy and everything he'd screw in a second - if he didn't have the urge to kill her and dump her on the doorstep of her father's house. He grinned, as the air whipped at his face and neck. Guilt niggled at him for being attracted to her. He shouldn't think like that – she was his assignment. He couldn't look at her like the daughter of the man who'd killed his fiancĂ©, however much his demon wanted to. Of course, his demon also wanted to brand her as his own too but that wasn't going to happen. Not with a Clementi, no fucking way.

It was bad enough he found her mind numbingly beautiful. Every atom of his body wanted to peel that dress from her curves and bury himself deep inside her. Images of her silky golden hair cascading down her bare shoulders, tickling her lovely full boobs, made him push his legs harder. Disgust at his weakness rushed through his veins. Nash couldn't act on these impulses, he wouldn't let himself. Focus on the assignment, that's all he could do.

As he brought his mind back to chasing said woman down, he became aware of something else. His training kicked in as he detected a threat close by. Strix. He pushed himself hard in an effort to get to Sienna before they did.

All systems go!

I have been assigned an editor from Liquid Silver Books for Leashed and am expecting edits in December! It is starting to all seem that much more real now. I know I know I said that when I got the contract and the cover art request forms. But you have to understand, to me this is all just a great dream and until I actually see my book on Kindle Amazon or on LSB website I will still be convinced none of this is real.

You dream about something for so long that when it actually happens you are never really sure if you have imagined the whole thing or not.

I have just signed a second contract with Breathless Press for The Alpha's Vixen, the second story in the Blood Bar Chronicles. An anthology created with some of other UCW girls. There are four stories in this first book. My partners in crime are Jorja Lovett, Doris O'Connor and Arya Grey. The second book will have four more members of the UCW and the third book will have another four members.....is this the wrong time to point out that if you leave us alone for any length of time we are likely to take over the world.....just saying.

Let me ask the other writers out there....is it wrong that I am excited to see my edits? I know this is the point where usually a writer groans and curses their editor for making them do changes but not me and not right now. I want to see what suggestions my editor has for improving my story, what works and what needs to be worked on. It's all part of the process and one I am really looking forward to but am terrified of at the same time...hay don't judge me!

In other exciting news...UCW are now in the middle of a mass publishing run! It all kicked off with Raven and will end.......around about March 2012 or should that be slow down not end?

We have all been very lucky and blessed in the last year, seeing our stories come to life. I love it every time one of the group post their new cover, they have all been stunning.

We all have publishers and, with the exception of one or two hiccups, we have all had a pretty good experience with all of them. Which, for this newbie on the writing block, has made the experience so much easier.

Side bar, let me just do a little pimping for a few of my authory mates.... below is a list of those just about to be published or those who have just been published. They are not all paranormal writers like me, don't worry. There is a wide and varied list below.....

Doris O'Connor - Lure of the Blood..... link
Raven McAllan - Wallflowers don't wilt.... link
Kiru Taye - His Treasure ....link
Donna Shields - Swan Cove Murders... link
Alannah Hart - Hot Shots Vol 2...link

There are many many many...........many more books coming out so check back soon cause I will be pimping more soon!

Remember I gave up on NaNoWriMo for this year? Well I have still been writing, it is potentially book 2 in the Shifters of Hillside series I am writing. Yes I know I said Claiming Clara would be but hay I am a woman I can change my mind you know!!

I would like to introduce you to Zane and Abby. Abby is the cousin of Laney from Leashed by a Wolf. I didn't intend for the stories to link and I tried really hard not to make them, I mean even Arya threatened that if I linked them she would do unspeakable things to me but I just couldn't help it I really couldn't. Anyone who writes paranormal romances knows that there is no controlling these shifters!!

Here is a little excerpt to tempt you with from A to Zane......

“I don’t pity you.” He lent down so he could glare into her eyes. He took a half step back, any thought he was going to let her go left her when he pulled  her wrist down to hold her hand against his hard on. “Does that feel like I pity you?” He asked against her ear. “Or does it feel like I want to take you here and now, hard against this wall not even caring who sees us or who hears you scream my name?”
Abby couldn’t speak, his words has stolen her breath. Dear God in heaven who was this man and why the hell did she want to lay down and beg him never to leave her?
He smirked at her and raised an eye brow. Abby blinked slowly, pulling herself out of the spell he seemed to have weaved around her, it was then that he still held one of her wrist and the other hand was now rubbing a thumb over her bottom lip but her hand still cupped his erection. Colour started to creep up her neck. She snatched her hand away, Zane laughed softly.
“I love seeing you blush.” He smiled. Abby narrowed her eyes at him. Apparently he thought he was onto a sure thing with her. Well Mr Magic Lips was going to have to think again.
“Really? You wanna see something else?” She asked with a husky tone.
Zane brushed the hair back from her face.
“Baby, I want to see everything you want to show me.” He almost purred the words at her. Abby gave him a smile before leaning to plant a gentle peck on his lips. Zane leaned in to deepen the kiss; Abby raised her booted foot and brought it down hard on his instep. He yelped stepping away and letting her go. Abby didn’t waste time she scooped up her bag and rushed towards her car. It took her a second to find her keys in the bag but she managed to grab them, unlock the car and jump in before he caught up with her.
The growl that left him as he caught the door before she could close it made her shiver; to her shame it wasn’t with fear.
“Move.” She tried to pull the door shut but he refused to move. He moved in slow motion, leaning into the car until they were practically nose to nose.
“Run, baby. I will let you go but I will find you and when I do you, you will be mine.” He captured her mouth is a hot branding kiss and was gone before she had time to react. Abby shook her head, blowing away the lusty haze he had left her with. Turning the key in the ignition she frown at herself, if she was honest she would never have picture this end to her evening. Nope, not in a million years!
