20 Questions with Nicola Cameron @yesitsnicolac

Full name:  Nicola Cameron
Genre you write for:  Erotic Romance
Latest release:  A Boon by Moonlight

1) If you were born in the regency era would you be above stairs or below?

A) That's a toughie. I'm the least ladylike female in the world, so being above stairs would be very difficult on me. On the other hand, I don't take orders all that well, so below stairs would also be an issue. If I had to choose, above stairs would be better -- at least I'd have access to the library. :-D

2) Shifter? Which would you be?

A) I like the idea of something that could run really fast, so being a cheetah shifter would rock.

3) Favourite colour?

A) Red or green, depending on the situation.

4) Morning person or night?

5) You're stuck on a desert island. Apart for your loved ones, which three things would you take and why?

A) The good pocket knife I always carry with me (because, you know, a pocket knife -- you can do all kinds of things with that), a good quality tarp (once again, lots of things you can do with that -- carry stuff, rig it as a shelter, use it as a sail), and a sewing kit to repair the tarp and my clothes. I know -- I'm so prosaic!

6) What place in the world would you live out the rest of your days?

A) If I had serious money, London. Otherwise, downtown Chicago would be just fine.

7) If you weren't a writer what job would you have?

A) Full-time jewelry designer would be wonderful, as would portrait painter.

8) What did you want to be when you were a child?

A) A neurosurgeon, right up until the point where I was flunking Organic Chem in college. I was in the haircare aisle at Walgreens when the heavens opened and the angels told me, "You don't want to be a doctor, you want to be a writer." Switched my major and never looked back.

9) If you were only allowed to write for one genre for the rest of your life what would it be?

A) As much as I adore erotic romance, if I was stuck with one genre it would have to be science fiction, which is my first love. Then again, you can include a lot of sex in science fiction these days...

10) Tea or coffee?

A) Iced tea -- I don't do hot drinks.

11) What your favourite letter of the alphabet? Can be any alphabet in any language you speak.

A) M, because it's pretty and elegant.

12) You are having a dinner party you can invite 5 other people, dead or alive, who are they?

A) Lewis Carroll (because I'm a long-time Carrollian), Tiffany Reisz (because she's hilarious and we get along like a house on fire), Richard Feynman (because he was funny, brilliant, and we could jam on percussion afterwards), Kage Baker (because I love her Company books and she had a very adventurous life), and Jeremy Brett (because he was amazing and he'd serenade me during dinner).

13) What is your favourite word?

A) Coruscate. A hard word to work into what I write, but I do my best.

14) What is your favourite song?

A) Walking on Sunshine.

15) What environment do you write best in? Noisy? Silence? Music?

A) Instrumental music, either soundtracks or classical.

16) City, country or seaside?

A) City girl all the way -- south side of Chicago, represent!

17) If you could go back in time to any era, decade, age when would it be?

A) Victorian Oxford, around 1870, and I'd stand outside Carroll's rooms and throw pebbles at his window until he agreed to talk to me, because I'm immature like that.

18) PC or MAC

A) This is a Mac household all the way.

19) Can you confirm that everyone does in fact need to know at least one CHERIE. Because well, we are geniuses...

A) But of course -- how can one bear to go through life without knowing a Cherie? It would be trés dismal, otherwise.

20) What can we expect next from you?

A) My Romance on the Go entry A Boon by Moonlight will be available from Evernight Publishing on March 1, 2013, and I'm putting the final polish on a 90K fantasy erotic romance titled Storm Season, intended to be the first book in my Olympic Cove series. After that's done, there's the MMF erotic romance set in 1923 Berlin, the rest of the Olympic Cove series, the MMF mystery in Victorian England, the list goes on and on...
